Quitting smoking is better for your health, but it is often difficult. NICOTINELL chewing gum can help you quit smoking by reducing withdrawal symptoms and cigarette cravings. NICOTINELL Cool Mint 2 mg chewing gum is more suitable for light smokers who smoke less than 20 cigarettes per day. NICOTINELL chewing gum contains 2 mg of nicotine per piece.
NICOTINELL Cool Mint 2 mg chewing gum is used according to a specific chewing principle.
1. Chew the gum until it develops a strong flavour.
2. Place the chewing gum in your cheek until the flavour becomes weaker again.
3. Chew again until a strong flavour develops.
4. Chew the chewing gum alternately or place it in your cheek for a total of approx. 30 minutes.
When quitting smoking with NICOTINELL chewing gum, the initial dose is determined individually for each patient. However, no more than 1 piece of chewing gum should be chewed per hour. Normally, this means 8-12 pieces per day, up to a maximum of 24. The treatment should normally last at least 3 months. After these 3 months, the number of pieces of chewing gum should be gradually reduced until the dose is down to 1-2 pieces per day. You should then stop smoking after 6 months. If you have not succeeded after 9 months, you should consult a doctor. NICOTINELL chewing gum can also be combined with nicotine patches, for example.

Method of administration?
Chew the medicine and allow it to dissolve in your mouth. To prevent the medicine from being released too quickly, chew slowly (for about 30 minutes) and take breaks. Chew until a strong taste develops and keep the medicine in your cheek until the taste subsides. Only then should you start chewing again.
Duration of use?
The medicine should not be used for longer than 6 months as a sole treatment and for longer than 9 months in combination therapy. If you have not been able to reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke per day within 6 weeks of starting treatment, please consult your doctor or pharmacist.

An overdose may cause nausea, increased salivation, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, sweating, headaches, dizziness, hearing and vision problems, a drop in blood pressure, breathing difficulties and circulatory collapse. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.
In general, it is important to ensure that the dosage is correct, especially for infants, small children and elderly people. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautions. The dosage prescribed by your doctor may differ from the information given in the package leaflet. As your doctor will adjust the dosage to suit your individual needs, you should use the medicine according to his or her instructions. Dosage

Do not use more than 1 piece of chewing gum per hour.
Maximum dose: Do not exceed a dose of 24 pieces of chewing gum per day.
In combination with other medicines: Consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice on dosage.
It may be advisable to reduce the dose during the course of treatment.
Medicines with different strengths of active ingredient are available for the individual dosage steps.
Smoking cessation should be accompanied by measures that support motivation.
- Relief of nicotine withdrawal symptoms
- To support smoking cessation
How does the active ingredient in the medicine work?
The active ingredient is used to support smoking cessation, primarily to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. The key factor here is that the nicotine is not delivered in the form of a cigarette. This eliminates the adverse factors, such as the additional intake of harmful substances and the addictive process of smoking. By slowly reducing the amount of nicotine, nicotine dependence can be ended in a controlled manner.
