Method of administration?
Chew the medicine and allow it to dissolve in your mouth. To prevent the medicine from being released too quickly, chew slowly (for about 30 minutes) and take breaks. Chew until a strong taste develops and keep the medicine in your cheek until the taste subsides. Only then should you start chewing again.
Duration of use?
The medicine should not be used for longer than 6 months as a sole treatment and for longer than 9 months in combination therapy. If you have not been able to reduce the number of cigarettes you smoke per day within 6 weeks of starting treatment, please consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Overdose?
An overdose may cause nausea, increased salivation, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, sweating, headaches, dizziness, hearing and vision problems, a drop in blood pressure, breathing difficulties and circulatory collapse. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor immediately.
In general, it is important to ensure that the dosage is correct, especially for infants, small children and elderly people. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist about any effects or precautions. The dosage prescribed by your doctor may differ from the information given in the package leaflet. - Impaired liver function
- Impaired kidney function
- Epilepsy
- Inflammation of the oesophagus
- Inflammation of the mouth or throat
- Gastritis
- Ulcers in the digestive tract
Non-smokers should not use this medicine.
What age group should be considered?
- Children and adolescents under 18 years of age: The medicine may only be used after consulting a doctor or under medical supervision. What should you bear in mind?
- This medicine contains a substance that can cause severe poisoning in children. Therefore, take special care to keep it out of the reach of children, including any leftovers after use and packaging.
- Take care if you are intolerant to fructose (fruit sugar). If you are on a diabetic diet, you should take the sugar content into account.
- Antioxidants (e.g. butylhydroxyanisole, butylhydroxytoluene) may cause skin irritation (e.g. contact dermatitis), eye irritation and irritation of the mucous membranes. - There may be medicines that interact with this medicine. You should therefore generally tell your doctor or pharmacist about any other medicines you are already taking before starting treatment with a new medicine. This also applies to medicines you buy yourself, use only occasionally or have not used for some time.
